The game is straight.
Position a 10 level GM Axe Ranger face to face with a Monster and if the Monster withstands 10 axe blows, the 10th blow will be a double attack chance blow.
The trick is to make your Ranger quick.
Say, Ranger with 75 Speed, Armsmaster Level 15 (or 10 with +5 skill booster), GM Axe Level 20, and having drunk Haste potion, will deliver 3+ blows per round. and One no-miss blow in 1.5 minutes (rounds). And better be accompanied with another or two Rangers. To speed up development, make one Ranger Elf and get him/her Arcomage Chainmail of Recovery.
After all, it's a "team building" and "fighting-site" issue.
A killer directly in front of your party is fully engaged and little threat. Ranged attacks of killer monsters a still a problem. So bring a MALE healer (able to Raise Dead) along, a Paladin, Druid or Cleric.
