Today is Papa Elf's and my Golden Wedding Day. (We were to haqve been on a tour of Sicily, but poor Papa Elf had emergency oral surgery, is on antibiotics [hence forbidden to drink beer, champagne, etc.], and is forbidden to fly for at least a couple more months, if then.) As I told him, this anniversary lasts all year, The Queen (Elizabeth II) celebrates her birthday two or three months after the anniversary of her birth, and a mark on the calendar is just a mark on the calendar. Maybe we were really married next fall, and in our senility have just forgotten the exact date. And what is the secret of our marriage's longevity? Just this simple credo: Murder yes, divorce never!
