not so much in the barrow downs but more in the tunnels to eofol... invisible medusa's it can be a real nightmare  to kill them i just wait until my characters portraits go red and coninually whack the a key that works most of the time. In the rel 3 mod but i think that the rats are stuck there as when they fight the zombies they often get slaughtered; some survive with very low health and then just leg it to the furthest away point which is, in this case, the drain and you never see them again.
