A Party member dies of "simple" blows if and when his/her HitPoints decrease a negative value equal to =(Endurance)*(-1), i.e. a level 1 goblin with Endurance stat 13, dies when his HP goes down past -13. Yeah, getting Endurance more than 100 is lotsa help. But it does not saves from Supreme Wyverns, Minos and Titans. IMHO, getting superhigh protection in certain Magic must help, like >35 Earth Prot helps with Medusas. My point is that if you survive without GM Prot from Magic, then you do not need Master Level Prot from M.
