in confined areas like the Red Dwarf MInes, the Erathian Sewers and espescially the tunnels to Eofil. You've got to be very careful in places like that. It doesn't take too many "backfires" to wipe out a party. Before I learned how to use them properly, I lost count of how many parties I lost due to close-in area damage. They are also useless againt gazers and devils (and maybe more types that I have forgotten)
