I am deducing from you noting the "secret door". There is only one secret door in the Breeding Zone and it leads to the *entrance*. You can leave the Breeding Zone through the entrance door but you haven't completed the quest.
The right exit is elsewhere. You have to jump down twice, to the lowest floor of the Zone and follow the way there further down to its end. Leaving the Zone there completes the quest.
It does not matter what you have done inside the Breeding Zone. Your task is leaving through the backdoor, nothing else. You can avoid all fights (IMO, it isn't possible) if you want. You can ignore everything in the Zone although it contains one important item.
