I replaced several voices at one point and encoded them wrong, and the game would work fine until those sound files were called upon, at which point the game would crash. However, it crashed differently than you described, quitting to the desktop; at that juncture I don't think I was using Mok's patch.

Also, I know that if one imports funky graphic files (or the zchicken as a map monster, say) the game is fine until those files are called for, at which point it crashes.

On the other hand, maybe that's not the problem in your case.
