I want to correct a post I recently made. I am able to play both MM7 and MM8 using Windows Vista. For MM7 you should go to Flamestrykes site and first update using the official patch and then update using the unofficial patch to make the game compatible with Wndows Xp. The game runs perfectly and easily. For MM8 you should update use the unoffical patch at Flamestrykes, but then you have to change from "Hardware Accelerated 3D" to "Software 3D" using the configuration utility.
