Original Message:   "modding"
Otter,

Actually, it was you initial post concerning a "tutorial" that gained my attention and set me on my current "path". I'm an old "hacker" from the Apple II boot-code-trace days and thought that I might be able to uncover a few things that would allow some neat little mods to the MM7 game.

I have become somewhat proficient over this last weekend at using the MM8LevelEditor to determine the database structure and offset loations for several aspects of the MM7 world, but most of my unique changes require the use of a Hex Editor and a basic knowledge of datbase and coding structure. So I depend heavily upon the "raw" Hex world for discovery and implementation.

I'll review some of your desire/questions/concerns and see if I can be of assist in providing some "discoveries" (re; successes in emperical trial-and-error experiments)for you and those interested in modifications to this fine classic game. You've already assisted me with the info you've posted on this site.

I'll go ahead and 'zip' up the two files after work this evening and email them out to ya so you can see what the mods are all about. Once again, though, there are files in the database that ae no longer viewable using the 'level editor', but most changes I've made you'll be able to easily see in the raw database files.

Later ...

BDJ
