i do not think the creators intended fo axes or maces to be dual wielded altgough the term "2handed axe" would have me beleive otherwise(the rest of this is not necessary to be read and i will probably drag on so feel free to leave) but i would rather use a shield with a mace and i have never tried to use a axe with anything else as this wouldn't seem tht gd to me because i beleive when useed two handed you get a better attack bonus for the axe and spear but that begs the question is it truly meant to be wielded one handed a mace and axe? most people would agree with me that a mace is used with a shield often enough but an axe i have never found used combined with any other weapon or a shield and many MMers wouldnt do this either (although most would given the chance)but think of it in context; how many films have you seen where a goody or baddy has used a shield with a battle-axe? bet you can only name a few eh? and even though the game may treat some of these items as secondary weapons i have never had such a problem with my spear only the mace and axe and as well as all of this why can't you use a spear in ur left hand even though at master level it claims "ability to use spear in one hand" r does it just say in right hand it eludes me just now. But regardless to all this i think we should just bite the bullet and moe along because not many people play as a ranger when so many more "better" classes are available (waow seems long letters are all the rage nowadays )
