After you close sides you will be asked to steal a tapestry from the castle of your chosen side and bring it to him within one month or suffer the consequences. If you fail to bring the tapestry or miss the deadline goblins attack Harmondale and all the shops will be closed till you clear out ALL the attacking Goblins and the sneaky fellows even get into the depths of your castle. This is not too bad as the goblins are pretty easy to clear at this point in the game. The bad part is if you do steal tapestry then your allies will get mad at you and lock their chamber doors to you preventing you from further progress toward ending the game till the area resets. This is true even if you sneak in and steal the tapestry while invisible they still seal the chamber doors. Most of us either take the wand off Malwicks dead body or accept the wand then refuse to steal the tapestry and just deal with the goblins.
