Just like you don't have to role-play every small detail of a campaign, one can figure that, since your party raided the lab and opened it up to The Pit's forces, of course Clanker got killed in the process. (Why bother designing a unique "alchemist" monster? He probably had thirty hit points and no weapon, and was caught in the john during your attack.) BV
