My own experience is that laptops don't run these games all that well. Some of them (the laptops) don't have graphics cards, and the graphics on the motherboard can struggle to cope. But even so, I don't this one has installed right. I'm not going by personal experience here because I have a dual-boot machine (so I can run the game under Win98) and I still run the unpatched v1.0 game anyway. If you're using XP, however, AFAIK you need to patch the game as far as possible (check out what patches are available on TELP's ftp site before you apply Mok's patch. But by all reports, Mok's patch is an enormous help, and so is running the game under Win98 compatibility. But I can't guide you through it in detail. I would try uninstalling and reinstalling to get a clean set of files, and then checking what versions of the game you've got before you start patching it. Apply Mok's patch last. Then if it still doesn't work, you need help from somebody who knows more about it than I do - probably Bones. HTH! |
