Everyone strives for clever names for their characters. I've found the best way is to use names that reflect your own interests/occupation. As a retired quasi-engineer (electrical) I once had a mage named Jules Coulomb. (Atrocious electrical engineering pun. Joules and Coulomb were pioneers in the field of electromagnetic science.) As a Fleetwood Mac fan, I used to name my mage Rhyannon (I thought the "Y" instead of "I" made it more Welsh-looking.) As a follower of the stocks and commodities markets, I naturally named my Archer Daniel S. Midland. When "M. A. S. H." was popular (the movie, not the TV series--I thought Alan Alda was too smarmy for the Eliot Gould role) I of course named my cleric Dago Red. Way back when, I used to name my mage ASCII, since I thought that was sort of magic, or even farther back, Dipps Witch. *Groan* I'm sure our loyal Taverners can come up with much better ones than these. To whet your creative appetites, here is a keg of my latest, Summer Heat Wheat Ale. Since it's too hot for making lagered (stored in a cool place until ready) beer, this is an ale (top-fermenting yeast--lager/beer uses bottom-fermenting yeast.) Bones, does the Tavern still have those tall, Pilsner-style glasses in the back? This lighter brew is better that way than in the standard tankards and mugs. It's guaranteed to cool you off in this terrible heat wave (New Zealanders, Aussies, and other current winter dwellers, I'm sure Bones has some Winter Brew left for you.) Drink up! |
