...and get caught get in trouble. One of the first things I stole was the longbow from Sal Sharktooth in the Temple of the Moon. I did it successfully (shock!) but I tried again, and got caught trying to get his gold. This was in a test I had done when I gave him the hat instead of 'peckin' a faht' (initiating combat by dissenting). It is possible to steal items from stores without getting caught, but every time I've been caught, I've been banned. Unlike most Miscellaneous skills, getting to Grandmaster doesn't mean 100% (that'd make it sooooo easy...  ), so even a GM can get banned (it's just much less likely).
