I used to be 83 but I drank me some of them Rejuvenations and, ta-da! I can even remember how to make 'em, if anyone got aged like me...

But to get back on topic - if you use an editor and ask what people think, expect you'll get replies ranging from "How dare you!" to "Where can I get me one o' those?"

It sounds like the 'slight modifying' you're talking about is simply making your 'Fantasy Gaming' a little more of what you'd fancy. My gaming buddy and I used to call it 'genetic engineering' when we did it using PCTools on Wizardry 6 characters to offset the sometimes lousy level-ups.

There are limitations built into almost all the games I've ever played, and once I've enjoyed them for what they're worth, my mind starts to say.. "What if I could..." and then we're in a whole new game, a whole new world, with new and exciting ways to make a $20 game last another few hours (or weeks, years, etc). One of the best things about the Might and Magic series is the incredible diversity of play styles, from 6 classes and 5 races in "Secret of the Inner Sanctum" to the multitude of choices available in the later games (skills, class, race, gear, etc) and one of the quickest ways to explore options is using an editor. On the other hand, an unmodified Druid will no longer be as much fun, since the 'boosted' guy clearly will outperform. Some folks (other places, different games) have reported that they got sick of playing because they'd used editors too much. For me, editing is about experimenting, but the actual game playing is done, as much as possible, as it was designed.

Oh, by the way... don't let what us folks here say get you too excited. That's how I wound up getting to 83 before I should have in the first place... in regards our 'feedback' on your actions, take what you like and leave the rest. You'll sleep easier not fretting about whether so-and-so likes how you're playing the game.

(and please, Chlala, let me know if this is considered Spam/OT and therefore not wanted.. I'm new to posting here and I'd like to stay... )
