Original Message:   Another difference in playing preferences :)
I (nearly) always makes a fairly early stop in Nighon. The altar and wells makes it worth the trouble for a magic party. Unfortunately it usually makes it to early to have anybody M alchemy or win the challenge.

M alchemy is 27 skill points, winning three challenges gives 30 skill points, a net gain of 3. You win (at least) three challenges by an early visit to LoG and a second visit six months later. You might even get a fourth win if you don't hurry too much. Oh, and of the 27 points 9 are for expert, which is essential, the shops never have enough of the potions you need right now (haste, water breathing, harden item)

Why do you thing intellect and personality are the hardest? Do you play might parties and don't collect items of personality or intellect? I think those are somewhat easier (less difficult) than the rest, after all with the central well and altar even the stupidest knight will not need more than an extra 135 points to win.

I've done my share of swapping items to win contest, tests, and challenges. It's a pain in the .... but nessesary to win in the early stages where the skill points really matters.
