It is not a trap going off, I've tried untrapped chests (Tularean caves), trapped chests (especially the one in the Pit) with scrolls (dark temple on Evenmorn island), quickspell and normal casting. In all cases I hear the sound that indicates that something should have happened. It's d#"& frustrating. I have noticed that when I open the chests the normal way, by clicking on them, they seem more particular about where I click. Since I have switched disks maybe I should try to reinstall the whole program?
