A character with perception will find more things while looting bodies. For instance, rats sometimes have rings, but only a character with perception will ever find them. Also, most or all of the campfires have rings, but again you'll only find them if the character doing the searching has perception.

I don't know if the level of perception makes a difference in this or not, so I train one character up as high as he will go and have that one character do all the looting.
