1) I took the wand on Emerald Island, and when I was ordered to go see Stantley at his Mercenary Guild, I ignored him. His raiders showed up in Harmondale and I killed them easily enough. I verified this by using Wizard's Eye. But the stores are still closed.

So I went to Tatalia intent on destroying the Mercenary Guild, but I can't enter - I just get Stantley saying how I shouldn't have been so tardy whenever I click on the front door.

This stops me from getting master fire magic, so it is problematic...

2) I chose the light path. I finished the first question, the Walls of Mist, and got into the Light Magic guild. But when I go to Light Magic shops, learning the light magic skill is not even listed as an option for my priest/wizard. Anyone have any thoughts as to why?
