Although for me, after a few times, I noticed the framerate would get choppy for a few seconds right before it flash, then the framerate would be smooth again. I play in 3d mode with 8xS FSAA/8x aniso on a GeForce 6800 GT. Once I got to Harmondale, though, the frequency of the flashing went way down.
