It's your choice, but if you actually carry out this quest, you will get your allies very, very annoyed with you. Steaming mad, in fact. You won't be able to gain access to Castle Lambent or anyone in it until the area respawns, which is (IIRC) a game year (it may be 2 game years) from the time you first entered it. I found it far preferable to refuse this quest and take the consequences. They are a lot easier and quicker to deal with.
