Your problem with bashing the door is almost certainly due to your low strength. Why is your level 71 Paladin only at strength 26? To be honest, I`think even the boosting fountain won`t help you.

You probably have a stronger character in your party. Place the two strongest character first (leftmost). It`s the combined strength of those first two that will determine if you can bash the door successfully.
