You frighten me there, Peter2. I wouldn't want to play all the way to the very end only for my game to crash. I can't really tell what version I'm using, since a friend stumbled upon a copy of it online awhile back and kindly gave it to me. So if there's a sure sign for me to use to identify it as a buggy original version, then please inform me. Like all M&M games, I'll be always keeping an eye out for them to purchase originals of, eventually. So far I have originals of the first two games for my C64. My party is level 12 so far in Swords and I've noticed already a seeming lack of dungeons and cities - at least compared to Clouds and Darkside. The music is rather soothing, particularly the title screen theme. I've cleaned out most of Hart and have found one Elder weapon from the Black Tower. (the dagger) I'm currently trying to track down the Ogres who are meant to be coming from the North of Hart. I'm also trying to get Imprey back on its feet. Its all ok so far, I always enjoy these early to mid initial stages of tentative exploration.
