making it understand that norman is installed and active wasn't too tough, but it still ****s everything up.
some of the **cked upp stuff is a conflict between radeon and service pack 2. and seeing that it is well installed is easy.
because, if a file is missing windows won't boot, instead you get a blue screen (yipes). and, well, when a service pack is installing windows is run from memory as all windows files that are changed/new with sp2 is deleted in the first part of install before the new ones are pasted. so an uncomplete install equals reinstalling windows. with damaged files the program/system part/graphics that is runn by it won't be at all (yes, windows won't even try to run a file from HD if it is damaged, CDs then again). so thats not a problem with sp2. and one thing, that should be a headline almost everywhere. DO NOT INSTALL SERVICE PACK 2 FOR XP ON A LAPTOP WITH WIRELESS NET. all laptops with wireless net have a w-button somewhere on it. this button eigter cuts power for w-net card or overruns windows net-controller. laptops with w-buttons that cut power are fine, but, those that overruns windows then again. SP2 comes with a special "service" for laptop computers. a "service" that intercepts w-button signals and launches a windows w-button window. a window that comes with five lines of information about w-button that you have to be, well, idiot to not understand by yourself. below these five lines is a check/uncheck box for "i wont my wireless card to be on". this window, STAYS, IT STAYS, it doesnt go away and has no shut/minimize buttons up right. and changes made with the w-button doesnt apply before this window goes away and the window requires quite a few mbs of ram. and if you shut it through taskmanager no changes are made or the w-lan card screws till you reboot. and this "service" is interactive too, it makes the w-lan by default OFF because booting with it on where no w-lans are available takes forever when run on batteries. and well, internet explorer gets overcarefull and screwed. and lots of more "services" comes, like popping up windows with idiot-friendly information (meaning that only complete idiots needs the info). and one more thing, have you heard about the lates security update for win xp? its a so "powerfull" anti ad-/spyware that it removes the prime source for them, internet explorer! now if that isnt ridiculus IM A VAMPIRE... i mean LANA TURNER. which im not... |
