If it ran ok you should have left it alone  Uninstall then reinstall. I run mine in win 98 compatabilty mode and haven't got the Microsoft Windows Application Compatibility Kit as far as I know. I have to run 'dxdiag' and set sound acceleration to none before I start the game up, but other than that it runs perfectly fine. Didnt change any settings for video or colors, just clicked the win98 compatable box.
