If I were to guess...you need to reverse the installations and other stuff you did to fix the game up. I personally think that if it runs fine beforehand...than it doesn't need to be fixed. I found the on my computer...the Windows XP Compatability makes the game LONGER to load and is MORE LIKELY to crash. I think you should keep the Compatability options off. For the rest of it I think you can try to uinstall that Compatibility Kit and reinstall the Game. That's the best that I can do for you.
