Original Message:   Loki's children
Loki had 3 children: Fenris the wolf, the Midgard serpent, and Hel. The first two caused particular concern to the Norse gods due to their size. Since Loki and Odin were blood brothers, they couldn't just kill them. They threw the Midgard serpent into the sea, where he grew large enough to encircle the world and hold the end of his tail in his teeth. Fenris they decided to tie up, so they got an unbreakable rope from the dwarves and presented it to him as a game. He agreed to let them tie him up, but only if a god put his hand in Fenris's mouth as a gesture of good faith. So Tyr did, and they tied Fenris up. After Fenris failed to break the rope he asked him to release him and they refused, so he bit Tyr's arm off. I think Hel wound up helping the running of the underwoeld somehow, but I don't really remember anything else about her.

At Ragnarok, Fenris and the Midgard Serpent both were freed. I believe that Odin rode his horse down Fenris's throat and died, although he inflicted sufficient internal injuries on Fenris to kill him too. Thor killed the Midgard serpent, but inhaled enough of its poisonous breath that he didn't outlive it by very long either.
