The yellow speaker-looking thing on the lower right-hand corner of the screen. Double-click there and check how high(or low) each sound type is. One of the MM games on a previous computer changed some of these levels when I started it up. I had to minimize the game to change it back. I can't remember which one it was, though. I think it was MM^, but it could've been MM7. Whichever one it was, it wasn't anything too difficult to fix when it happened.
