thanks so much for the info and tip. I think I may be out of luck. tried running the patch and couldn't get it to run at all, then tried your suggestion of running under safe mode, no success...it's like the program isn't responding at all. next time I tried MM7, my computer completely crashed and wouldn't even respond when I finally hit the power button. took a bit to get the power shut down and windows rebooted.. I'm afraid to mess with it anymore. there's probably a way to make it work, but I'm just not savvy enough to jerryrig it. after reading through the archives here, I can tell I'm singing a familiar riff- I'm thinking I'm going to have to try and purchase an old win98 'puter just to get my MM fix lol thanks again
