Losing Legendary items if you leave the area early on?
01/09/2019, 20:47:18

Hi! It's been a long time since I've played MM6...

I seem to remember that the entire map will reset after a certain amount of time? Including indoor areas and chests?

I've always been nervous to leave any area before completely exploring the area... I don't even feel comfortable going to Castle Ironfist for bows early on, since then the Castle Ironfist timers would reset? Or what if the higher-level parts of New Sorpigal reset before I can get to them??

I'm ALWAYS worried that I'm going to lose a Unique / Legendary item!

    Thoughts, opinions??

You will not likely miss out on anything - just don't drop anything as that WILL vanish once you leave the map

    The full respawn list:

    6 months:
    New Sorpigal
    Mire of the Damned
    Dragonsands
    Hermit's Isle
    Paradise Valley

    8 months:
    Bootleg Bay
    Kriegspire
    Eel Infested Waters
    Sweet Water

    24 months:
    Castle Ironfist
    The Misty Islands
    Free Haven
    Frozen Highlands
    Silver Cove
    Blackshire
all dungeons but the final one (afaik)

...and of course the Arena respawns at every entry, but no items to find there anyway - only fame, glory and a prize, or certain death.

I should add..

..or stress that each and every area and dungeon respawn independently. Just note when you entered a dungeon/area the first time if you want to be completely sure when it respawns - only really important if you leave something behind - that is any dead or living monsters, or you put anything aside in a chest - everything will be replaced when the repawn occurs. Most games you get to revisit and reclaim the areas that respawn after 6 months or maybe also 8 months. To my knowledge most will have completed before 2 years have passed. Take your time - no rush at all - only the final score reflects how much time you used and that's just a number - the real joy should be inside the game doing everything in your pace.

Also I don't think any of the fixed legendary items will become inaccesible even if you don't claim them before the respawn happens. Some random legendary items may be placed inside chests that can respawn - but again if you keep the respawn table in mind you shouldn't miss them, if you can access them in time.

I only once missed a legendary item, but that was in MM8 - I realized too late that a certain rock in Ironsand was more than a rock.

Should you ever lose an important item the Seer in Castle Ironfist will most likely be of service.

The Seer seems to be useless for giving back lost Quest Items. Peter could surely tell you some of his experiences with it .

Again, this is a very old memory, dating from when I first bought the game in the late 1990's

I tried out the Seer on all his 3 functions: advice, activating the shrines, and replacing lost items.

    (1) Advice I found his advice to be accurate but very general e.g. something like "You need to go and visit the Castles" (I can't remember the exact words). Not really very helpful.

    (2) Shrines Activating the shrines I have found to be spot on – totally reliable.

    (3) Lost Items I found the function of replacing lost quest items to be unreliable. It worked occasionally, but more often than not it said "You never had it" or gave me a second item that I already possessed. I've not used it for this function since my very early days with the game.

    HTH!

    nah, just joking

Never misplaced a thing in any MM game - though I tend to forget where I put things, as I generally store too much as the game progresses.

The Temple of the Sun is btw. a good place, if not the best, to store lots of stuff and to place a beacon for Bootleg Bay area.
Likewise is Clanker's Laboratory in MM7 a good storing place - even better than Castle Harmondale, I think.
In MM8 you have plenty of storage, the more members you gather in the Adventurer's Inn the better - you even get "dolls" for your unused artefacts.

Legendary & Unique Items
02/06/2019, 02:24:53

    HodgePodge writes:

Hi Not bloody likely you'll ever find a Unique or Legendary Artifact/Relic in either New Sorpigal or Castle Ironfist.

Unique/Legendary items are mostly found in Paradise Valley, Hermits Isle, Alamos and Dragonsand.

Although you might find a few in Silver Cove and/or Darkmoor. Especially look in the dungeons in all of these areas.

Sweet Water is pretty barren of nice artifacts. But keep your eyes peeled anyhow.

IIRC, New Sorpigal resets every six months (game time ) and I think Castle Ironfist resets every game year. Could be off, it's been at least 5 years since I last played. But I played dozens and dozens of games during the 15-20 years that I did play.

Can't play MM6 (7 or 8) on my current computer. Somehow, when my rig was serviced about 5 years ago, the graphics card fan needed replacing and it had an adverse effect on the games' animations.

Shots freeze in the air (along with the whole game). So MM6 is unplayable to me right now. (SOB!!)

Anyhow, hope this helps. Don't be afraid to leave an area. The chests and game-placed items will still be there next time you come back … unless you wait waaaay too long. And still, there'll be new, just as nice, treasures awaiting you, with each reset.

Soripgal's six-month reset time is the shortest. However, any items you drop on the ground yourself will disappear when you leave any area, so be sure to remember to pick up anything you want to keep.
