Hooray for Dosbox! 11/05/2017, 04:55:41

I haven't been able to play World of Xeen (i.e. MM4 and MM5 on the same drive) for years, because the DOS shell on my old (and now defunct) computer didn't have enough low memory to cope. However, I installed Dosbox, and I've just completed Clouds of Xeen. The only flaw in the game was that the Thieves throne in the northern sphinx refused to confer the "Prince of Thieves" title on my dwarf ninjaI'm having to take a break for work just now, but I've started on the Darkside, and Castleview has been cleared. To be continued . . .

I'm not sure Carol's enjoying the bands and squeaks that echo down the stairs, though. I'll have to turn the volume down while I'm playing!

(You see, that was what I meant when I was telling you that DOSBox would solve your problems! )Also, if you would have any problems with it or would like to set up something, feel free to ask me, I use it quite a lot.

You probably remember Zedd (gone to join the great game in the hereafter, and still much missed) – he was an expert with Dosbox, and knew exactly which version went best with which game.I'm not as digitally dextrous as I was, and I much prefer these days to play turn-based games and not real-time ones.

Dosbox is quite mature now, so I guess you shouldn't have any problems using just the newest one (and I never met a game which would make troubles being run in dosbox — sometimes you can make the experience better by tweaking some settings, but that's it).

I'd have guessed that Zedd passed on 3—4 years ago, but I've checked back and it was 7 years. He left us round about Christmas 2010, about 2½ years after Flamestryke.

Yes, that would match. I came somewhen around 5-6 years ago, IIRC. 11/12/2017, 06:44:14

My own arrival also required a less expensive version of the Internet, and probably occurred the same general time as Peter2's arrival. I had a problem that the Finnish Bear helped me with. NT 12/24/2017, 08:53:43

Not real certain what it is that draws me to look this place up this time of year. Between Bethesda and Bioware both tying on all their games with unpleasant requirements, only CD Projekt Red's games halfway appeal to me any more! I was only 58 years old when I stumbled into the forerunner to this place, still middle aged. Happy to be remembered! Best Wishes, friends! NT 12/25/2017, 09:37:27
