My unofficial patch v1.3 08/01/2005, 01:58:48
|
Mok writes:
I finally found some time to upload new version of the patch. The link is the same. I called it 1.3 to avoid confusion with official patches 1.1 and 1.2. Changes from previous version: patches 1.1 and 1.2 are included, fixed shield and armor recovery, fixed music playing, Caps Lock will toggle running/walking mode. Full changelog below:Changes from official v1.2:
- Fixes from patches 1.1 and 1.2 are included.
- Small updates to Miles Sound System (4.0b to 4.0g) and Smacker (3.1n to 3.1s)
- Fixed broken doors in Shadow Guild and Kriegspire Castle.
- Fixed shield and armor recovery (Thanks to Mike Kienenberger for the fix).
- Caps Lock key will toggle running/walking
- Fixed CD Audio initialization. Music will play even if CD2 isn't in the first CD-ROM drive in your system.
- Buggy harddrive free space check removed.
- Added a few configuration options to mm6.ini file located in the games directory: [Settings]
AlwaysRun=1
FlipOnExit=0
LoudMusic=0 > AlwaysRun enables running. If you press Shift you'll walk. Default is 1 (enabled). Always disabled before the patch.
> FlipOnExit turns your party when you exit a building. Default is 0 (disabled). Always enabled before the patch.
> LoudMusic sets the maxium volume of in-game CD Music to maximum of your normal Windows CD Audio Volume Slider. Normally the game sets it to half the volume which is too quiet for some setups. Default is 0 (disabled). Always disabled before the patch. -Mok

okay, i'm sorry if i sound dumb, but...1.3 is your full mok's patch (includes all the fixes of the first two, along with your new 1.3) PLUS the 2 official patches.
and installing all that on top of a current game with both official patches and your 1.2 patch is okay and won't break any current games? sorry if i sound dense, but wouldn't it have been simpler to also release a stand-alone 1.3 patch for those of us who don't need to repatch with the official patches? Yes, you can install it over any "official" previous version. Standalone 1.0, patched to 1.1, patched to 1.2 and patched to 1.2 with my previous patch. Any of these is just fine. If game version is unknown, the patching program will complain and exit.-Mok

I don't think it has anything to do with your patch, Mok. I think it's this dang computer.
Win XP Home Edition SP2
(from Dell... and I think that's the main prob)
3.4ghz P4
80gb HD
512mb RAM
Radeon X300Not a bad computer, but we've had problems with it since the day we got it. MM6 loads just fine. When I try to run it I get the "send report" error. I've tried no compatibility and every compatibility. Then I loaded your patch. Same BS. Any ideas?? Thanks, LiL

Hmmmm. Which program is generating the "Send Report' message? 10/18/2005, 23:03:57

Bones writes:
And what other problems have you been having with this computer? The Radeon X300 is a fairly advanced card and ATI has a reputation of taking a long time to fix the problems with their drivers. Make sure your're running the most recent version. Also make sure you have DirectX 9.0c. That info is on the first tab of the DX diagnostic program. Start -> Run -> "dxdiag" and Enter.

Good Job!. I installed this patch on top of a patched to 1.2 game with no problems.
The music on it's own is worth the upgrade, with the fixes and auto run it's a must have for this great game.

Does a version of this which also incorporates the patch to Ver 1.2 which allows CP speeds > 2.4Ghz to launch without getting a fatal divide error (mm6_mod)?As is, when I try to run MOK 1.3, I get "Might and Magic VI has encountered a problem and needs to close". If I install the 2.4 Ghz fix, I can run but can't open Shadow Guild doors!

Grindstone82 writes:
hi, I would love to apply Mok's patch for the armor fixes, but the game crashes whenever I apply it. I am running Vista, and I get the game to run in version 1.2 in compatibility mode, however if I apply Mok's patch on top of that, I get an error message saying 'MM6 doesn't work anymore'. It has happened several times.

I installed this game mainly for its music. Unfortunately, this patch does not play the music. Is there a possibility I am missing some files? I checked the directory and there seemed to be no sound files related to music. Is there a way to download the appropriate music files so the game can play them?
