. . . I've always needed to go round at least 1¼ times and usually a bit more than that. And once you're triggered the teleporter room to open, mostly the game transports you there, but occasionally you have to make your own way. I've never worked out why and what makes the difference. Maybe it's the way I hold my mouth?
