"Installing" simply unpacks the files in the correct "order" (subdirectories/etc). I've simply copy-pasted MM6-8 (as well as Wizardry 8) in entirety to a new hard drive and they loaded fine. If you're changing OS, you may need to change compatibility /admin mode etc. Never tried this with MM9 or X, because they were significantly newer with different engines. But Wiz8 was from 2001, only a year before MM9
