in MM6 13 is the maximum, unless you get the 13 BEFORE you get the five fixed artifacts, in which case 18 is the maximum. There is no limit in MM7 or MM9, you can get all 60+ artifacts and relics. I am not sure about MM8, however. I don't think there is a limit there either.
