Thoughts concerning payments and shipments....

How facilitators move money and games needs to be above reproach. All transactions must be documented and tracable. For payments this means bank checks and PayPal. iKobo is another possibility, but their rates are a bit steep.

Buyers should be encouraged to use these ways of getting money to the facilitator. Other arrangements can be made if necessary -- like a personal check or cash -- but this runs the risk of error, hurt feelings and false accusations. If other arrangements are made then the buyer should be warned of the risks.

Likewise, our shipments must be with reliable carriers, trackable and insured. No exceptions. If we can't obtain reliable shipping then we shouldn't offer to help. If the buyer doesn't want to pay for insurance then he/she can make their deal without our service. The potential damage to our reputations as facilitators is too great to risk doing otherwise.

Sellers should be encouraged to send their games to the facilitator in the same way -- traceable and insured. They should be warned of the consequences and know that we can not take responsibility if their package fails to arrive or arrives in poor condition.

Please post your comments and further thoughts. If someone is inclined, I would appreciate having these and future policy statements written up in a concise manner. Thanks.
